Peter is a former professor and Head of Physics (2009–2016) at James Cook University (Townsville). His consultancy work while at the university resulted in the development of specialist instrumentation for measuring aspects of water quality, with the profits used to fund student scholarships and research projects. He has published more than 100 papers in international science journals and supervised many successful PhD students.
